GoBici+

A partir de la unión entre la computación y sociología, comenzamos un proyecto acerca de las bicicletas donde debíamos crear una innovadora aplicación que ayude a quienes lo necesiten.

Esta aplicación se llama GoBici+. Tiene muchas funciones muy útiles y da acceso a la información. Sirve para, por ejemplo, trazar una ruta para andar en bicicleta a través de un mapa sincronizado con Waze con sus referencias. Calcula tu tiempo, distancia, calorias quemadas y tus records a medida que vayas usando la aplicación. Ademas, a la media hora de estar andando en bicicleta, la aplicación te recomienda que te hidrates o ingieras algo. Esto sucede cada determinado tiempo que pasa mientras uno anda en bicicleta. En la parte de ajustes tiene acceso a la información como nutrición, reparación de la bicicleta, la mejoría que le hacemos al medio ambiente si usamos la bicicleta antes que al auto, entre otras cosas.

Los principales objetivos que queremos alcanzar son:

• Bajar de peso y entrenar
• Conocer y crear rutas nuevas a través del gps
• Ayudar con la reparación de la bicicleta si hay algún incoveniente
• Guardar y contar los tiempos de los recorridos para mejorarse a uno mismo
• Cuidar al mundo de una manera que también nos beneficie a nosotros
• Aprender cosas nuevas acerca de la nutrición
• Actualizar la aplicación cada tanto, asi se mantiene interesante

Ademas, estaría disponible para cualquier dispositivo android o iOS.

Avoid use of private cars

Actually, most of the people in the country and in the world, use private cars for people to move around, whether it is for going home or going to work. People even use it to go to the market or to a friend's house! But as the government wants to reduce the use of cars, it is a great moment to apply these two new methods: investment and education to discourage the use of cars in the city center.

Investment on bike paths and a special road is one way. Bikes avoid environmental problems and they are much more economical than cars. Maintaining a car is also expensive. In addition, the bikes can help people to keep in shape. Another thing in which they can invest in is by public transport. They are cheap, practical and fast. Firstly, the government should improve quality and clean these public transports such as buses and trains. Secondly, if it is possible, build another lane for buses and thirdly, organise the service so that people don't drive themselves crazy.

An education campaign for future generations would be ideal because these people will be the ones who should get used to stopping using private cars. Maybe in the future, they will teach their own kids about how to move around. However, the government should put their part and act immediately so this fact doesn't extend more.

As a conclusion, private cars have almost more negative points than positive. In my opinion, this project may take time. Private cars are more comfortable but too expensive. Some people will get surprised of how effective these methods can be when they put it up in practice! Traffic jams would be avoided and people will move faster.

How important were republican reactions for the succes of Roosvelt in the 1932 elections?

In 1932, Franklin D Roosvelt won the presidential elections In USA. His succes may be because of the republican reactions or because of his own work. 

Hoover saw the country in several depression, but he wasn't able to solve the problems that were presented. He was defined as a do-nothing president. This fact may be because problems persisted. He was sure that prosperity was around the corner, while everything went from wrong to worst. He tried cutting off taxes for restarting economy, and even introducing tariffs for protection of US industries. In consequence, depression got worst and world trade strangled. The government believed that they should leave the bussines and security alone, prosperity was close.

Roosvelt was choosen for changing policies and solving problems, being active. Firstly, he tried to get people back to work hard and benefiting unemployed ones. He spent public money for helping people, to employ them. He closed all banks for then reopening them after being checked and prove they were trustworthy. A programme that regulated speculations was created too. He carried on the "New Deal" which irrated confidence and supoort. It was composed by diverse programmes.   This plan helped young people, poor ones, tenant farmers by improving public places and structures, for improving life quality life.  He also setted up the Tenesse Valley Authority that focused on installing dams in the extensive Tenesse Valley for providing electricity, avoiding droughts and floods and creating jobs. He also carried out the "Second New Deal" as comsecuenced of critisism, helping ordinary people by lending money and employing them. 

As a conclusion, it would be true to say that Roosvelt solved the chaos that Hoover left. After depression, it seemed as if USA would never go back to what it was. However, these New Deals made Roosvelt divide USA and he was accused from communism. Equally, Roosvelt didn't care and kept benefiting people that was in ruin after de WSC.

How important were credit and hire purchase as a reason for economic growth in the USA in the 1920s?

In the 1920s, th boom marked an era in the history of USA. Hire purchase and credit were one of the reasons why the economy grew. It had important and not to so important points.

On one hand, one of the important points was that producers created new effective marketing techniques due to the fact consuming was massive. New jobs were created thanks to the division of work. That is how car’s production increased abruptly. Catalogues algo inspired people to buy more. “Buy now pay later” was the most effective technique, where people could use some lent money for buying and then paying. Speculators originated there. They asked for loans in banks for then buying actions, supposing that the price will rise and they will keep some money as an interest after paying the loan.The confidence that people had on the banks and the country was enormous.

On the other hand there were less important points. Republican policies were a secondary factor. Laissez faire didn’t allow government to interfere in men’s life; rates protected the companies; Lower taxes so that American Trade improves; and trusts where big corporations managed the industries. The division of work, that improved speed in production and made cheaper the products. After the WWI, USA was the most powerful chemical industry. Consumer goods for houses production doubled, like vacuum cleaners and radios. Work for people was easier now that electricity expanded all over the country. It made things faster and in consequence, hours of working also reduced. Publicity in radios were also applied for inspiring people to work and buy. By that moment, oil and technology industry in USA were leading in the world after the WWI. They exported everywhere, from Latin America to even Europe. However, the most important was the new film industry, which improved entertainment for people on their leisure time.

As a conclusion, it would be true to say that those years in USA were pure and exclusively to make money. People were happy and confident cause they spent their time on working for then making money and spend it later. It recovered USA from isolation and WWI, making it powerful and great again.

About Me

In the first class we had from ELT writing, we had to write an essay about ourselves so the new teacher could know us a little bit more.

My name is Catalina V. I am 16 years old. I live in Monte Grande and I am a student of 5th year on social studies from Newlands school. My parents are called Felix and Veronica and I have an older sister called Victoria. She has a boyfriend who I consider my brother called Roberto.

My size is 1,70m tall and my weight is around 60kg. I have naturally dark blonde hair and blue eyes. I don't consider myself thin or beautiful but i am working for accepting myself just how I am and i learned to be happy in that way.

I used to have an ugly attitude towards people when i was younger and i didn't like me that way. I used to be in a bad mood all day, but i started changing in these 7 last months and now i am not complaining so much and i am happy, treating people better and i am a better person.
When i finish school, i want to study law in UBA and then working in Tribunales with my family. I expect to be a public prosecutor one day. My hobbies are, for example, watching series and movies. I love movies and series that include love and conflicts between people. Other hobbies i have are listening to music all alone and having tea or going to parties with my friends. With my friends, i also love having sleepovers. However, what i most enjoy is playing hockey in the club. I am a fan of lanus, a football team.
As a conclusion, i feel myself a changed person and i can define myself as someone happy now.
